"Maidan Hospital" was born in the coldest time of 2014 - exactly when it was very hot in the center of the Ukrainian capital. Just imagine: February is on the calendar, the Ukrainian House is changing hands, and the authorities at the time are preparing to finally take control of Hrushevsky Street and disperse the Maidan... The first blood was spilled during the Euro Revolution of Dignity back in January, so everyone understood: the next events can only be worse.

Doctors also understood this. Since the hospitalized participants of the events could easily be locked up in the pre-trial detention center even from a hospital bed, the doctors decided to secretly equip several secret medical aid points closest to the place of clashes. They prepared as thoroughly as possible, even thought about the possibility of using combat chemical weapons against the demonstrators - fortunately, these fears did not come true. Instead, there was an assault on the barricades, a fire in the House of Trade Unions, clashes on the burning Maidan and, as a final chord, the shooting of the Heavenly Hundred on Instytutska Street.

The closest medical aid point to the scene of the bloody conflicts was the then unofficial "Maidan Hospital", located at 7 Tryohsvyatitelska Street. Medicines were partly brought by the people of Kyiv, and partly bought with donations collected for a good cause. It would seem that after some time after the victory of the Euro Revolution, the work of the Maidan Hospital will gradually come to nothing: all the injured will either be treated or, if necessary, will be taken to official medical facilities - but...

But it didn't happen as expected: after the Euro Revolution, another disaster came to Ukrainian land: Russian intervention.

The medical institution was transformed into a completely official organization - International Charitable Foundation "Rehabilitation Center "Maidan Hospital". Accordingly, the goals and functional responsibilities changed, the purpose of the activity was determined - a healthy united nation, a single independent Ukraine, peace, economic and social development of the country. The values of the foundation are children, people, and the army: without taking care of it, there is no future, and there is no country at all.

The International Charitable Foundation "Rehabilitation Center "Maidan Hospital" has been actively working since February 2014. With the help of the foundation, the rehabilitation center "Maidan Hospital" was created at 7 Tryohsvyatitelska Street in Kyiv, where free psychological, medical and social assistance was provided to victims during the events from November 2013 to the end of 2014. More than 2,500 people from the "Maidan" were staying at the "Maidan Hospital" Rehabilitation Center, who received comprehensive rehabilitation treatment at the center.

250 people were rehabilitated in sanatoriums of Ukraine free of charge, including free round-trip train travel, as well as delivery of the injured after treatment and rehabilitation in hospitals and rehabilitation institutions in Poland.

In connection with the events in the east of Ukraine and Crimea, the foundation assumed the responsibility of providing assistance to the families of refugees and displaced persons.

In the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone, a 24-hour logistics center was created to receive, process, systematize and quickly respond to calls for help. Full-cycle system for the collection, removal and delivery of refugees and displaced persons from the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone to the city of Kyiv was operated, and then distribution across different regions of Ukraine.

On the basis of the "Teteriv" sanatorium of the Zhytomyr region, a point of reception and accommodation of refugees and displaced persons from the war zone, namely mothers with children, was opened. About 1,200 people found shelter in the sanatorium.

Pregnant women with babies under the age of 1 make up a special group of refugees. What prompted our foundation to single out this problem in a separate "Neonatal Project"? The project included comprehensive care for women and babies from the perinatal center in Kyiv to specialized care in the "Zhovten" sanatorium and accommodation at the "Malyuk House" base opened by our foundation in Mezhyhirya.

About 600 mothers and children have received help in the "Malyuk House" during the entire existence of the project.

Our foundation, together with Polish benefactors, developed and implemented the charity program "Children of Heroes of Ukraine". The program is aimed at the rehabilitation and psychological rehabilitation of children of military personnel who participated in hostilities in the East of Ukraine, or were wounded or killed. During the existence of the program, 680 children received qualified psychological help and recovered in the territory of the Republic of Poland in the charitable camp "World-Wide Help for Children of Ukraine", children with cerebral palsy syndrome were also helped to undergo rehabilitation in Poland.

With the help of the Embassy of Ukraine in the UAE, servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who were wounded in the area of Anti-Terrorist Operation have gone to the Arab Emirates for rehabilitation.

Maidan Hospital, in cooperation with sanatoriums of Ukraine, helped many wounded servicemen receive free treatment and undergo a rehabilitation course.

From the very beginning of the foundation's existence, medical assistance has been and will be the most important part of our team's work. In order to provide quick, high-quality help, we needed not only medical personnel, but also specialized medical transport - an ambulance. From the very beginning, we bought ambulances with our own funds or with the help of benefactors.

Our ambulances have always been at work, have always worked and work where there is an urgent need for help, where there is danger, where there is a need to save.

Together with the "Red Cross" of Ukraine, they provided medical and humanitarian aid to residents of the front-line areas of the Anti-Terrorist Operation area.

Medical crews of the foundation were on duty in the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the combat zone, taking out the wounded and providing first aid, delivering medicines and humanitarian aid.

Now the war has come to our house. The Russian aggressor invaded the territory of Ukraine on a large scale, destroying cities and villages, launching rocket and bomb attacks, robbing, killing, torturing the civilian population, raping women and children…

Volunteers of our foundation use ambulances to evacuate refugees, children, women, and the elderly from areas occupied by the Russian army, fired upon and bombed by the occupiers, to safe places.

We deliver humanitarian aid from our friends from Poland, Latvia, Canada, and the USA to residents of villages that were under occupation. We help with food, medicine, provide medical aid to the wounded, transport the sick and seriously injured, and unfortunately, we take out the "200".

Together with the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, we participate in the demining of de-occupied villages and places of Ukraine.

Together with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, our ambulances went to Bucha, Irpin. Gostomel, Borodyanku and other places where there was "Russian peace". It is impossible to forget and get rid of this - it is an evil that must be punished. We see with our own eyes all the crimes committed by the occupiers.

There is a war going on and we - the "Maidan Hospital" volunteers are a powerful force, a strong team. Our volunteers work in the east and in the west, in the south and in the north of Ukraine, and we remain where it is important and needed... The "Maidan Hospital" Foundation is part of the Public Council under the Administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine.

Volunteers of the foundation have honors and awards from state and public organizations of Ukraine, Poland, Latvia, and Lithuania.

God and Victory are with us!
